For my very few readers out there, I wanted to check in and provide an update on what’s going on with the website. The first thing to know is that in the beginning of March, I bought a puppy! That’s why I haven’t been posting as much content. Sadie was 8 weeks old when I brought her home and required constant attention (that I wanted to give!). While buying Sadie has in some ways taken away from my writing, momentarily, she has helped me reflect on how values are reflected in one’s spending choices. My thoughts on happiness and its relationship to money are evolving, and I’m sure I will have more to say on that as time goes on.
There are a few interesting content pieces that I will be adding in over the next few months that are worth looking out for. I have realized that my friends and family my age are interested in buying homes; the problem is that buying a house is such a big task that it can seem overwhelming. I know that when I tried asking my parents for guidance they struggled to help because it had been 26 years since they last bought a home. They simply didn’t remember all the details and nuance of the process. I intend to write some articles that dive into the home buying process to help take the fear and confusion out of it.
The second thing I want to add in is a section specifically for educators. I hear and read much grumbling about how we just don’t teach kids the important math in school, the personal finance and such. The truth is a lot of us teach personal finance and business concepts to students, in public schools. I have done projects within classes and have taught an entire year of financial algebra. Sharing my resources in a way that teachers or parents can use to facilitate teens learning about money is a new goal I have for this website. If you have questions or specific requests please post them in the comments below!
